WASA Bio
WASA was established in May, 1988 as a member of “The Governor's Alliance Against Drugs”. It is a grassroots 501(c)3 community coalition united to assist Northern Cochise County in being safe, well and abuse free. The goal of WASA is that people of all again in the Willcox area will increase and maintain awareness of substance abuse issues and their effect on community as a whole, as well as on individuals and families. WASA does not accept the concept of responsible use and strives for a commitment to sobriety and health. Recognizing that substance abuse is a complex issue, WASA's prevention activities are varied and focus on awareness and prevention of a multitude of youth and family issues that can result from, lead into or co-exist and support substance abuse.
WASA VISION STATEMENT:
To enlighten, excite and educate our youth of Cochise County to resist the pressures to abuse alcohol, drugs and engage in violent/destructive behavior. WASA recognizes that each child is an individual, that all children are creative and that all children need to succeed! WASA's goals are to empower young minds with a sense of understanding and compassion for others and the courage to stand up for what is right. WASA strives to have parents, teachers and community members become actively involved with our youth's health and education.
